Welcome to my website. I teach Art to grades 5 - 12 at Fairfield. In the middle school, I teach regular middle school content. At the high school, I teach Intro, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, and Digital Photography. My philosophy is that Art should be used as a vehicle for learning, not just a subject unto itself. When my students learn about something, it has tie-ins from English, Science, History, Social Studies, Physics, Math, Psychology, and of course, Art. I always try to show some real world application to projects that we complete both in the middle school and the high school classes. I do not teach Art as some boring, esoteric subject the way it is taught many places. For kids to enjoy it, they need to see it as something they want to participate in. You'll never open an Art textbook in my classroom. It is MY job to teach about the subject; not some textbook. If you scan the QR code on my banner, you will be taken to my online art gallery, so you can see many (but not all) of my works. I think a great Art teacher should also be a great artist, so my online gallery is sort of a visual resume.
